Considerate photograph

In the photograph where we had written a word on our hands I had written the word considerate. I was thinking that I should smile instead of having a blank face like a few people I had seen. The word I chose is how I see myself daily and also when I am at work.

What kind of teacher will this person become in the future?

I am thinking this person will be a nice, comforting teacher. The person in this photograph seems like a nice person. The word considerate stands out so I assume she is considerate of others. This picture feels warm, not cold. I think she will be a compassionate, understanding teacher.

Cheating in America

A few ways this applies to me is me as a student in college and me as a future educator. For me as a student in college you have to be careful when it comes to plagarism. With every paper written in college about someone or something you have to cite your sources. As a future educator it will be an important job for me to help students understand what plagarism is, what the consequences are, and how to avoid getting into trouble by citing sources the correct way and helping students understand how to expand their writing on what they have read or learned.

Proverb

"In teaching others, we teach ourselves."

I think this means that if we're helping someone to learn something we are therefore reinforcing what we know and expanding our knowledge on the things we do not know. Thus by teaching others we in turn are teaching ourselves. This is a really good proverb to think about.
"Do not train a child to learn by force or harshness; but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius." - Plato

I feel that this means that if you want a child to learn you cannot force knowledge upon them in a harsh way. If you want them to learn you need to find fun and creative ways to teach them and help them retain the knowledge you give them. Through helping them learn in fun ways will help you to discover new things about your students.

Today in class each student read scripts from a little piece of paper and each student cheered for each student who read. My script said, "I always finish everything I start with ease and pleasure." It felt pretty good to be cheered for after reading. It is something new for me to experience. This would be a good activity to use in the classroom. I feel that it would make students feel pretty good about themselves.

Writing Experience

I would say my earliest writing experience would be when I was in preschool. I remember how I would see my parents write stuff down on paper. One day I tried to do what they did which in reality it was just scribbles, but to me I thought I was writing. I remember cleaning out my room not too long ago and I found the scribbles and got a little laugh out of it.

My Weekend

Well, this weekend has been a long one. I found out I have to have surgery. I plan on having my surgery done during the week of Thanksgiving so that I do not miss much school. The upside to the weekend is that I finished a book I've been reading for a few weeks now. It's book three of four books. Now I can start the fourth book which I am excited about, but at the sametime I'm a little sad because then I'll be done with the series.
